"short description of community members you have helped"

“When I turned 18, I moved out of my parents house. I moved to Manhattan with no place to stay and didn’t know anyone in the community. I met Will (CoH Founder) at the Be Able Community Center and he got me connected with the warming shelter so that I would have a warm place to sleep. I was there for the full (winter) season when it was open. Will also got me connected into a good church community. I was able to finish high school and graduated in 2023. I was able to get a job and a place to live. The Center of Hope Ministry is an amazing place that will give you a warm place to stay, sleep, and get you back on your feet. I believe the CoH is vital, must continue, and needs to be supported.”

“At 0407, one person arrived at Vineyard Church (shelter location) escorted by an officer (RCPD). Officer said he found him “wandering the streets freezing”. Officer asked if said person could stay? He was welcomed in.

“It’s nice to have a warm, dry, safe place to sleep. Not having somebody wake you up to say “you can’t sleep here!”. They provided snacks and drinks for all who came, making sure none of us were hungry. All we had to do was abide by the simple rules of the program. It is a program with good people who care and want to help others.

Staying at the shelter helped me maintain a job by having a warm place to sleep and be well rested. This provided stability until I was able to save and get my own place to live.

I am grateful for the Center of Hope Ministry and believe their mission is crucial to the survival of those experiencing homelessness in Manhattan.”
